The whole purpose of raised docks in the loading bay is to allow a direct run through from goods vehicles in to the warehouse, speeding up the loading and unloading process, and minimising vehicle waiting time.

In order to speed up the loading and unloading of UK fixed double deckers (with a 900mm average lower floor height), Transdek proposes the introduction of a 900mm loading bay height at designated double deck bays.

This enables a direct run-through on to the lower floor of double deck trailers, minimising lift usage and cutting loading cycles to as little as 45 minutes.

Transdek offers a range of solutions to achieve this direct run-through both for new-build and retrofit projects. Bespoke ramps can be in-laid in the warehouse floor or in-built in Transdek’s latest double deck loadhouse pods. This ramp slopes from standard dock height down to 900mm to create the run-through capability.*

For greater loading flexibility, double deck lifts with a ‘floating’ dock plate can be married to new or existing dock levellers. This creates a direct run-through (and efficient loading) for multiple vehicle types – and allows full flexibility of use for each loading bay.
